Easy Pool & Water Activities for Toddlers

Now that the warmer weather is finally upon us, it’s time to start thinking about summer activities to do with the kiddos! I can’t wait to let my kids run around outdoors and burn off all that energy little boys especially tend to carry.

My boys love making messes and splashing around, so I knew I had to start brainstorming fun ways to keep them entertained with water.

Here are some of our favorite pool and water activities for toddlers your kids will love too!

1. Beach Ball

Never underestimate the power of a good old beach ball. My boys will take every excuse they can to throw a ball around. Add water to that and it gives that extra splash they need to have a blast! I love this simple, yet durable ball that’s perfect for pool time.

2. Pool Noodles

There are just endless possibilities of the fun to be had with pool noodles. From using them as floating devices and hoops to lightsabers and tennis rackets there’s so many ways to be entertained. Plus the bright colors and foamy material are perfect for fun imaginative play!

3. Stacking or Nesting Cups

If you have little ones, I’m sure you own some type of play cups — either the stacking or nesting type that are perfect for scooping water in and out of the pool. Some of these cups (like this one from Nuby) with holes at the bottom make water play even more fun as water streams out.

My toddler loves using them to splash about in the pool or water table every chance he gets. He even likes to use them to help mama cool off too :).photo 1

4. Splash n’ Catch Fishing Set

As a Nuby parent blogger, I am lucky to get the chance to review a number of their newest and coolest kid products. So after having a chance to try the Splash n’ Catch BathTime Fishing Set last summer, we had to add it to our best pool toys list!

Fishing Set

The Splash n’ Catch BathTime Fishing Set is not only made for bath fun, it works just as well for pool time! With the interlinking colorful ocean characters and net that is easy to hold, kids can practice their hand-eye coordination as they catch the characters in the water!

The fishing set makes for great pretend play, which toddlers can’t get enough of. My then 2 year-old loved using the set on his ocean treasure hunt.

Another perk of the net piece was using it as a clean-up tool to scoop out little bugs and leaves in the kiddie pool :). It really worked well!

The Splash n’ Catch set which is BPA-free and ideal for ages 18 and over, adds so much fun and opportunity for imaginative play in the water. You can buy it online at any of the following retailers:

5. Squid Squirter

This is another entertaining water toy from Nuby’s bath fun collection that your water-loving toddler will go crazy for! The Squid Squirter™ is exactly what it sounds like: a squid toy that squirts water. Have your child hold the squid under water and pull the handle back until the chamber is filled with water. They then push down on the handle and watch the water squirt out!

My son had a blast testing it out on his tiger during bath time! He had so much fun he even tried taking a few shots at me!! nubyI would of course prefer the little man to use this one outdoors in the pool ;). It’s a perfect way to keep cool, while having fun during the scorching hot days.

This is definitely one water toy you’ll want to take with you on the go this summer! Find it at any of the following stores: www.amazon.com – www.buybuybaby.com – www.bedbathandbeyond.com – www.buybabydirect.com – www.cookieskids.com – www.echildstore.com – www.diapers.com – www.walmart.com – www.kohls.com
