Like most kids these days, our toddler is all over tablets. Anytime he lays eyes on daddy’s iPad he wants to check out the latest family video or play his favorite games. It still amazes me how easily he navigates to his preferred kid app and manages to load some feature we weren’t aware of. There are so many great perks of having a tablet, especially when it comes to education. But then there are also many concerns that come to mind if your kid is able to find some inappropriate music video or movie.
That’s why one tablet I was SO ecstatic to review as part of my Holiday Gift Guide was the InnoTab MAX by VTech. This tablet is specifically made for children ages 3-9 as a fun educational tool offering a variety of games, apps and content to help kids learn a number of skills…all this with an array of parental controls to ensure your kid is navigating the web safely.
Here are a few facts about the InnoTab MAX:
- The tablet is VTech’s 4th generation kids’ learning tablet featuring its fastest processor yet with a 7′ high-resolution multi-touch screen display.
- Offers the best of both learning worlds with access to more than 650 educator-endorsed, age and stage appropriate learning titles
- Features an enhanced 2nd generation version of Premium VTech Kid Connect at no additional charge, allowing children and parents to exchange voice and text messages, photos and drawings in real-time between the tablet and a smartphone
- The tablet offers the best of both learning worlds
- There are 15 onboard apps included (Premium VTech Kid Connect, My Magic Beanstalk, Movie Maker, Art Studio, Wonder Cam MAX, E-Reader with Story Dictionary, to name a few)
- Features a built-in rechargeable Lithium battery and kid-safe Wi-Fi so kids can explore appropriate online games, videos and websites pre-selected by VTech
- Parental controls allow parents to manage the apps, web access and table time
Although my son is only 2.5, he is quite savvy when it comes to electronics so loved exploring the various apps the InnoTab offers. Everything was organized quite well with the bright big kid-friendly apps making navigation a synch.
My toddler alternated between using the clunky stylus (perfect for little hands) and using his finger tips as he is accustomed from touch screens. I really appreciated the fact that the stylus was attached to the tablet because anyone who has kids knows that it would be easily misplaced!
As a parent, I really like the variety of games and educational tools that includes everything under the sun from getting creative in the Art Studio and learning to read with the story tool, to shooting movies like daddy in the Movie Maker.
I love that the tablet is wi-fi enabled, making on-the-go entertainment easier than ever!
Although we still have so many more apps to explore, we are so happy that this tablet can grow with our child, teaching him various math, science and social skills along the way. We are especially excited about the Learning Lodge tool that helps us find age-appropriate apps he can use through different stages of development. The InnoTab MAX is already showing to be a favorite of ours!

Sounds silly but I like that you can use your fingers (like mommy and daddys) or chose the stylus. But the greatest is that darn thing is attached!
