As a LeapFrog Mom Ambassador, I receive products, promotional items and educational material to use and share as I see fit. However, any opinions expressed by me are honest and reflect my actual experience. This post contains affiliate links.

Remember how much fun you had playing the Wii? It was an action-packed video game system that enabled an adult to feel like a kid again and get a little exercise in the process!

If you have small children that were too young for the Wii, LeapFrog’s LeapTV is the perfect solution. It’s an educational gaming system designed specifically to keep small kids moving and learning. And with the days growing colder and colder, this is an amazing way to help kids burn off some energy indoors!

Why the LeapTV is Ideal for Small Children

Makes Learning Fun

The number one reason, your kids will love playing with their new LeapTV is simply because of all the fun they will have. With more than 100 games and apps to explore, the LeapTV helps little ones learn through motion to get their minds and bodies moving. They can practice dancing, jumping, or even racing and skating with their favorite characters like Elsa and Anna!

The gaming system is all about kid-friendly themes and play patterns to keep those little minds actively engaged.

3 Ways to Play

Playing is never boring with the LeapTV which offers three different ways to have fun. Kids can shake and tilt the controller for fast-paced playing with the classic control; They can twist, turn and move all around using the controller as a pointer; Or they can go all out with their entire body: dancing, jumping and karate-chopping as their unique movements control the on-screen action so they can see themselves on TV! How fun is that?!

Made for Young Kids

One of our favorite things about the LeapTV is how age appropriate the system is. The controllers are ergonomically designed to make it easy for little hands to manage, while the simple interface makes it intuitive for kids to navigate through.

And because it’s specifically for kids age 3-8, the audio instructions makes it much easier for a pre-reader like ours to follow along.

We have a very active 3 year-old who gets a bit of cabin-fever every winter when we are confined indoors. He is ALWAYS wanting to watch his dad play video games or build characters on the TV, so will really love having a gaming system made just for him.

This will also be one, brilliant way to help him burn-off energy in a fun and educational manner. We can’t wait for him to open it this Christmas!!

Be sure to check out the LeapTV this holiday season for your loved ones. You can find it on sale for more than 50% off (down from $129) HERE while supplies last!

Connect with LeapFrog on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for more fun learning products!

This is part of a sponsored collaboration with Huggies and Latina Mom Bloggers. However, all opinions expressed are my own.

As a mom to two little boys, I find myself more active than ever! Some days are full of running around the house chasing a 2 year-old, and then jumping through the various obstacle courses he’s managed to create from toys and household junk. My toddler really knows how to make a mama sweat!

Other days I’m dancing around and making silly faces so my 4 month-old can stop crying.

It amazes me just how much energy they have AND how much energy they need to burn off to prevent tantrums and stick to those naps.

Despite the crazy days we have, keeping up with these guys has really helped me lose lots of baby weight :)!

Toddler vs Baby Activity

I’ve noticed that with our toddler, outdoor or highly physical activities are a must. They give him the chance to run around in large, open spaces and not worry about bumping into furniture and getting injured. Whether that means taking him to a local baby gym or letting him walk the dog and splash around in the yard, these little things help get the job done.

When it comes to the baby, keeping active means changing things up frequently. We usually start with a few minutes on the gym mat for tummy time and muscle work and then move on to the exersaucer.

Playing with my little ones during these basic high-energy times is the secret to keeping me active!

I’ve always considered myself a genuinely healthy and somewhat fit individual, but have to admit post-pregnancy it hasn’t been so easy to get back on track. A bit more motivation and effort is needed these days…and at times I find myself wishing for some type of wellness coach.

Luckily, I’ve discovered that there’s an app for that: the WannaBeWell App from Life…Supplemented! This app serves as a comprehensive resource to educate, activate and motivate for a healthier life by focusing on three areas: healthy diet, exercise and vitamins. These three pillars are the key to a healthy lifestyle.

I found it fascinating that with the app, I could create a personalized wellness coach customized to my liking that would deliver daily messages to help me live that healthy lifestyle I’ve been dreaming of (a little encouragement here and there goes a long way)!

Users who download the app, can also take a “Score Card Test” which grades individuals on their overall wellness and provides customized insights based on their score. So you are either an an AlphaWELL or an OhWELL…and let’s just say I didn’t fare as well as I thought!

Those who really want to stay fit can check out the app’s Supplement Resource Center which contains a wide-range of articles to help people make more informed decisions about their dietary supplements.

If you aren’t sure about the app, I recommend you check it out — not only is it FREE but you can at least see what the buzz is all about!

Okay, this week was much better than last week (considering I didn’t really get to do a real workout last time). At least that’s what it felt like. This time around, I was able to squeeze in a couple circuit training exercises, that were completed in about 15-20 minutes. Sounds a bit brief I know, but the mix of quick cardio bursts followed by some light aerobics really had me working up somewhat of a sweat.

I found the work-out routine after flipping through a Fit Pregnancy issue I had subscribed to earlier in the year. I was really pumped to find a perfect postpartum workout and wanted to dedicate as much time as I could to the routine, but house work and baby duties took up most of my time so I was only able to do the exercise two days in the week.

When I hopped on the scale mid-week after having a hunch that the routine was having a positive effect, I noticed I was down 2.5 lbs to 153.5! Wow…in just a couple days too!! But fast forward to the end of the week, three days later, I was back up to my first week weight! I was perplexed! Now my stomach is actually starting to feel flatter, despite what the scale is saying. And you know what? I don’t care what the scale says, then! If my body is starting to look and feel better, I think that is really all that matters.

Also, I have to add that I actually can’t lose too much weight at a time, given that I am nursing. According to some research I stumbled upon, not only are nursing mothers suppose to be increasing their calorie intake by 500 a day, but losing more than a couple pounds a week can actually release toxins into the body that can enter the bloodstream and effect milk quality. Not something I want to take my chances on, thank you! One step at a time it is!

Starting Weight: 183 lbs

Current Weight: 158 lbs (According to my fidgety scale)

Change: +2 lbs from previous week (but I’m feeling and looking better!)

*UPDATE: Boy, oh boy was I right about my fidgety scale. This morning I hopped on to find that it now said 154.5 lbs…vs. the 158 lbs it estimated last night! Looks like I have to start weighing at about the same time every week for consistency-sake. Go figure!

However, I did manage to sneak in a couple of quick 20-minute yoga practices! And boy did it feel good to stretch!! I think it was just the right push I needed to realize that it isn’t so bad and I can definitely ramp up my sweat level.

I also stumbled upon a great motivational quote from TheBump.com, which reminded me that the average amount of time it takes to lose the baby weight is at least 6 months…so yeah, I still have plenty of time!

Starting Weight: 183 lbs

Current Weight: 156 lbs

Change: -1 lb from the previous week

Achievements/Struggles: I gotta say, I’m proud that I finally popped in the postpartum yoga dvd and woke up some muscles I hadn’t used in awhile. Although the major struggle continues to be finishing a workout when baby decides to take cat-naps…. What am I doing during those longer stretches of naps? Eating and showering of course! Guess that gives me about 1 week to really push myself before I head off to the beach! Nothing like crunch-time to provide the right motivation.

I knew having a baby meant putting on some extra pounds that would take some time to shed. I mean, I didn’t gain 50 pounds overnight right? In fact, If I recall correctly, I think it took about 9 months! So now that it’s been about 2 months since I’ve given birth and have the official “ok” to work out again, I thought it perfect to put together a somewhat-organized plan for tracking my weight loss.

To give some quick background, pre-pregnancy I was about 125 when I was actually going to the gym and feeling fit. At the very beginning of my prenatal check-ups I was about 130-133, so I’ll use that as a benchmark. Flash forward to the very end of my pregnancy, my max weight was about 183 lbs — a number which I was a bit terrified to see, since it meant I had gained about 50 lbs!!

Luckily at about 10 days postpartum, I was weighing in at 158 — which meant I had lost 25 lbs just from giving birth and breastfeeding!! I was overjoyed to know that the weight seemed to be coming off so easily, but then was also perplexed when the number on the scale didn’t move down much more a couple months later. That’s when I decided I really did need a workout plan in order to get back into my pre-pregnancy shape! This is where my “Fitness Friday” updates come in!

Starting Weight: 183 lbs

Current Weight: 157 lbs

Achievements/Struggles: I am struggling to find the time to do any type of workout. Baby is feeding every 1/2 hr to an hour during the day…which is a bit insane! He is a fussy mess, but as his sleep routine improves I will look for creative ways to work out, even it’s for 10-20 minutes at a time.

Workouts: Nothing much yet…although I’m starting to stretch a bit more.

I’ll be back next Friday with a 2 week update…fingers crossed!!
