Fitness Friday: Week 3

Fitness FridayOkay, this week was much better than last week (considering I didn’t really get to do a real workout last time).  At least that’s what it felt like.  This time around, I was able to squeeze in a couple circuit training exercises, that were completed in about 15-20 minutes.  Sounds a bit brief I know, but the mix of quick cardio bursts followed by some light aerobics really had me working up somewhat of a sweat.

I found the work-out routine after flipping through a Fit Pregnancy issue I had subscribed to earlier in the year.  I was really pumped to find a perfect postpartum workout and wanted to dedicate as much time as I could to the routine, but house work and baby duties took up most of my time so I was only able to do the exercise two days in the week.

When I hopped on the scale mid-week after having a hunch that the routine was having a positive effect, I noticed I was down 2.5 lbs to 153.5!  Wow…in just a couple days too!!  But fast forward to the end of the week, three days later, I was back up to my first week weight!  I was perplexed!  Now my stomach is actually starting to feel flatter, despite what the scale is saying.  And you know what? I don’t care what the scale says, then!  If my body is starting to look and feel better, I think that is really all that matters.

Also, I have to add that I actually can’t lose too much weight at a time, given that I am nursing.  According to some research I stumbled upon, not only are nursing mothers suppose to be increasing their calorie intake by 500 a day, but losing more than a couple pounds a week can actually release toxins into the body that can enter the bloodstream and effect milk quality.  Not something I want to take my chances on, thank you!  One step at a time it is!

LilySlim Weight loss tickers

Starting Weight:  183 lbs

Current Weight:  158 lbs (According to my fidgety scale)

Change:  +2 lbs from previous week (but I’m feeling and looking better!)

*UPDATE: Boy, oh boy was I right about my fidgety scale. This morning I hopped on to find that it now said 154.5 lbs…vs. the 158 lbs it estimated last night! Looks like I have to start weighing at about the same time every week for consistency-sake. Go figure!
