Are you a mom to little ones and feeling a bit stressed these days? Let’s face it: the life of a stay-at-home isn’t as relaxing as it can sometimes appear. You’re chasing after kids all day in your pjs, cleaning up trails of potato chips and cookies they’ve managed to retrieve from the pantry and trying to alleviate your screaming baby’s teething pains…all this while you fight the urge to run straight for the bedroom to take a much-needed nap after a late night. And that’s usually what life looks like on a good day.
So these days, I’m all about easy and natural ways to relieve stress. Those two are really the key for me when you’re days are hectic.
Natural Ways Moms Can De-Stress
Catch up on sleep.
This is really the first thing I like to do when I’m feeling overwhelmed. Stress is usually related to the amount of sleep you get (or don’t get). Lack of sleep not only contributes to your cranky factor, it also makes you more susceptible to getting sick…which makes de-stressing even harder. So whenever I am able to, I like to rest a bit even if it is just a 20-minute power nap. It’s amazing how refreshed and relaxed I get with a little more sleep.
Practice yoga.
I love practicing yoga because of the numerous benefits I shared previously. But even if you aren’t able to make it to the yoga studio, you can still enjoy the physical and mental benefits right at home as the endorphins energize you and provide the well-being to handle stressful situations.
Laugh with your kids.
This one is actually not as complicated as it can sometimes feel as a mom to small children. There’s a lot to worry about with their schedules, sleep, meals and behavior. So we can’t always find joy through the chaos when we are in the midst of stress. But the truth is, laughing has some pretty miraculous powers. It’s the most natural way to send positive vibes through your whole body. So get silly with your kids. Get the wiggles out. Laugh with them. If you remember that it’s okay to not take yourself so seriously all the time, it can often be the best medicine.
Surround yourself with natural scents.
You know the feeling. You catch a whiff of an amazing scent in the air like a bouquet of flowers and it can take you to a far off place. That’s the beauty of aromatherapy. It uses the fragrance of natural plants to improve health, treat depression and reduce stress. That’s why I love surrounding myself with scented candles or relaxing essential oils anytime I can!
Take a supplement.
When you’re feeling the weight of the world on your shoulders and trying to lead a healthier lifestyle, taking vitamins or some type of supplement is a great alternative to prescription medicines. One option that is both easy and homeopathic comes from RESCUE® Products. RESCUE offers natural stress relief in a variety of forms including pastilles, sleep liquid melts and pearls. The products are alcohol and sugar-free and contain one dose of RESCUE Remedy to soothe, calm and relax you. I love how they are perfectly sized for taking with you wherever you go too!

i agree with a lot of sleep. Getting a good nights sleep always helps with stress. I have never thought about doing yoga but I might just start. My boyfriend and I plan to get a couples massage soon. We’ve never gotten one. Lol

Great list. Sleep is my panacea. And I definitely agree with the supplement option. I have observed from time to time that taking a vitamin supplement makes my body feel integrated.

I totally agree on the sleep. It’s amazing how much better I feel after a good night’s sleep. I don’t know how I even survived my son’s first year of life on such little sleep haha. I haven’t heard of this product before though. I may have to try it out!
