A little late in posting, but the newest update in babyworld is…we have officially made the transition from exclusively breastfeeding to introducing solids! And there is just one way to describe how baby is dealing: he is simply LOVING IT! I knew he was ready for food when a strictly-milk diet (or milk with a tad of rice cereal) wasn’t keeping him satiated. There were those moments when the little guy would reach over for my plate of food during dinner or push my bowl of cereal over as I ate. Plus any time mommy and daddy would snack he’d pucker up as if asking “Where’s my share?”! All this, and he was approaching the pivotal 6-month mark!
So the last week has been a bit messy. Food stains on onesies and bibs. Sticky bowls and spoons piling up in the sink. And more food on baby’s face and hands than in mouth!
But all this has been well worth it, because baby is sleeping more and more through the night, his average stretch lasting between 6-9 hours!
We decided to start with some veggies first and then move into fruits, lest baby develop a preference for sweets. Dinner went from peas and carrots to apples and bananas…and this week we will be giving him a food medley (think veggies AND chicken) which will be more of a dinner meal!
The little guy is enjoying every meal he gets and I’m sure he’ll appreciate that as we move into the food festive holiday season!
When did you first introduce solids and how did your baby react?

Hi there! I started all of mine (3 kids) around 5 months. I was breastfeeding also and desperate for a bit more sleep. It does help, doesn’t it? Well done responding to him “telling” you he was ready for solids. Have fun with it!
