Easy Chocolate-Covered Halloween Pretzels

127shares

There are two snacks that I can’t get enough of: chocolate and pretzels. So when I started craving chocolate-covered pretzels, I took to Pinterest to see how I could make it happen. I was so excited when I stumbled upon a pumpkin-pretzel recipe that looked amazing! That’s where my inspiration came from for these pumpkin + ghost snacks I ended up creating.

Easy Halloween Pretzel Treats for Kids - These pumpkin and ghost pretzel snacks are a such a fun and easy recipe to share at a Halloween party!

First let me just say, the original idea I had in mind didn’t quite work out due to a missing ingredient…so I decided to alter it a bit. Because sometimes you just have to keep going and make due with what you got. I’m so glad I kept going, because these treats turned out delicious!

Ingredients

  • 1/4 a bag of mini pretzels
  • 1 TBSP of shortening
  • White chocolate chips
  • Green and brown mini m&m’s
  • Food coloring (orange)

Directions:

I used half of a bag of white chocolate chips and shortening, placed them in a microwave-safe dish and melted for a couple of minutes, stirring in between.

ingredients

Once the mixture was smooth enough I started dipping my pretzels in by hand. I placed them aside to dry on wax paper and added brown m&m eyeballs to complete the ghost.

While this “ghost pretzels” set, I got my next mixture together (this time with orange gel dye).

white chocolate pretzels

After the chocolate had melted I added the food coloring. However, this combo was much thinner than the first and so the coloring on the pretzel was very faint. (Note: Next time I will use only a dab of shortening, because I think it contributed to the look I got.)

pumpkin pretzels

I topped the pretzels with a green m&m for the “stem” to complete my version of chocolate-covered pumpkin pretzels :)!

Halloween pretzelsThere you have it. A simple, yet delicious way to dress up your pretzels for a spook-tacular Halloween!
