Candy apples topped with caramel, nuts, sprinkles and other deliciousness are sprouting up everywhere you turn as the Fall season draws nearer. My mouth is watering just thinking about it…but my head is telling me this is no good for little kids who don’t need any more sugar in their lives!
Don’t get me wrong, I like to indulge them every now and then, but I know that too much sugar can wreak havoc in high-every kids.
So today I’m so excited about this super simple candy apple recipe idea that was a huge hit past weekend. The small portions make me feel much more comfortable giving them to a 2 and 4 year-old, and it’s an easy way to let your picky-eater see how fun fruit can be!

The apple snack recipe is incredibly easy.
Simply slice a few apples to your liking – usually about a quarter inch works well for little mouths. Remove the apple core using a knife or apple corer like this one to get all those pesky apple seeds out. (If you have a sturdy straw, you can try that too!)
Next, grab your favorite caramel dip and spread it on each apple slice. Caramel is delicious, but super sweet, so one or two thin layers is plenty.
To complete the kid-friendly apple snack, add sprinkles!! Sprinkles seem to work wonders with kids — anytime you want to enhance any (healthy) treat they work like magic and become that much more appealing to little ones.
These apples were SO delicious and the perfect Fall dessert and kid snack to enjoy through the apple-picking season!
