Disclosure: I was sent a pair of prescription frames free of charge to facilitate my review. All opinions are my own.
I wear contacts as many days in the week that I can. But there are moments in any day when I’m in a mad rush (aka during the morning madness routine). Getting breakfast ready for the kids, running up and down the stairs looking for matching socks and school clothes, wrestling my kid to the ground to get those clothes on and then chasing the dog back in the house!
I hate starting my day like a tornado hit, but that’s how it usually goes. That’s why on chaotic days like that when I need to head out in a jiffy, glasses come in real handy. Especially for me, who takes a little extra time getting contacts just in place. I can’t help it. I have sensitive eyes.
And with two little boys where roughhousing is second nature, I am not looking to splurge on an expensive pair that will be ruined in a minute. That’s why I think inexpensive, yet cute and comfortable are key for moms of young ones.
I recently got a chance to review a pair of glasses from Firmoo — it’s an online optical store that sells stylish glasses at very competitive prices.
I decided to go with a rectangular shape based on the the virtual model tool that lets you upload a photo of yourself so you can “try-on” the glasses. It’s a really cool feature I liked, especially because I wanted to make sure they looked okay on my face shape.
After you pick your favorite pair, ordering is pretty standard. You will need to select your prescription and measurements. A pupillary distance measurement (or PD) is required to get the right lens fit. You can either phone your Dr. for your PD or use a measuring tape to estimate what you’ll need (like I did!).
The eyeglasses arrived with two cases – a hard one for longer storage and a soft pull-string case for easy on-the-go travel. It also came with a convenient cleaning cloth.
I was pleasantly surprised with the style and quality of the frames. I even liked how they looked on me — gave that fun, geek chic look that’s all the rage.
The only drawback I’d have to say is that the frames are a bit large on me — so when I look down quickly they slide off my nose. I noticed all Firmoo.com frames come in one size, so looks like that definitely effected the fit for me. However, I am going to try a little adjustment and silica tips as those were recommended to help get a snug fit.
I think overall the glasses do their job. For the quality and price, they are a great choice, especially while the kids are little.
