Rainbow Art: Melted Crayon Heart on Canvas

We've been searching for some fun ways to practice color skills with the kids -- something that we could also repurpose as a fun art piece to decorate the playroom. Since there's always a plethora of crayons around the house, I thought it would be even more exciting for the kids if we let them see how the crayon wax interacted with heat for a fun little science-like experiment (with mommy's supervision of course!). We've seen so many amazing melted crayon pieces over the past few months, so knew we had to at least give it a shot! Melted crayons can create some beautiful pieces and there's … [Read more...]

Cupid’s Quiver & Arrow Valentine’s Craft

I love creating Valentine's crafts with my toddler -- they are so cute and fun to make, but most of them get tossed aside after a few minutes after creating. So I started to brainstorm and think long and hard about a Valentine's craft that would be perfect for an active toddler like mine. That's when a bow and arrow idea came to mind! It was definitely the kind of craft that would pique a little boys interest and keep him entertained for a little longer! Although most people think "bow and arrow" - I decided to focus specifically on a quiver and arrow craft because they work quite nicely as … [Read more...]

Valentine’s Love Potion Activity & Gift Idea for Kids

If your toddler is anything like mine, playing with water never gets old -- he's always looking for an excuse to make a mess explore with liquids and powders any chance he can. So I figured it would be so much fun for him to experiment even more with a love potion play activity for Valentine's Day! I've seen so many creative science ideas involving baking soda and vinegar to create volcanic-like reactions, so figured that was just what the kid needed after being cooped in all day. We would just add red Kool-Aid to make it work for Valentine's Day! Materials Baking … [Read more...]

Nothing at all wrong with that! All you need to do is combine 1/3 cup of oil, 1/4 cup of water and 1 egg and … [Read more...]

Valentine’s Day Crafts for Toddlers (Especially Boys)

With Valentines' day quickly approaching, I've stumbled upon so many creative and fun DIY arts and crafts for the kiddos.  And even though I don't really consider myself a crafty mom, I've been super inspired to give them a try so that the budding little artist in my toddler can come to life. The only issue I've run into is that my little boy isn't too fond of crayons, markers or paint-type projects at the moment. He'd much rather be playing with puppets, tossing objects or pushing cars. That got me thinking. If I could just find Valentines' crafts that had some creative movement to … [Read more...]
